Courses at the New School officially commenced on August 8, 2019 with Dr. Nirav Shah's engaging lectures titled "How to Lead, Making Great Policy, and Creating Change" and "Crafting a Narrative." Dr. Shah, Professor and Senior Scholar at Stanford University's Clinical Excellence Research Center and former Commissioner of the New York State Department of Health and COO of Kaiser Permanente in Southern California, imparted valuable lessons in health care leadership learned through his experiences in government, private industry, academic medicine, and corporate governance. Scholars came away equipped with practical tools to understand their leadership trajectory, to establish a leadership framework, to understand organizational dynamics, and to utilize the power of storytelling to foster shared vision for transformation.
